Fang proposed to Yun in October 2006 with a self-designed calendar which includes 14 photos taken on their Yellowstone trip back in that summer. He carefully chose the caption initials to make the secret phrase "WILLYOUMARRYME". As a pre-physicist he tested the trick on his roommate Daihua Zhang first, who, as expected, failed to decrypt any meaningful message after receiving tons of hints.

However, to Fang's utter surprise, Yun broke the code in barely two minutes!

The moral: never underestimate a statistician.
